Started the PC, logged in and didn't even get to do anything when evolution (i hadn't started it) crashed.

Thanks for a bug report. There had been reported a similar bug report already, thus I'm marking it as a duplicate. Here crashed evolution-calendar-factory process, which allows clients to access calendar items, like for the evolution-alarm-notify or gnome-shell's Calendar applet/extension.
