"Software Sources" Icon also is missing. Not even close to being a release blocker. -1/-1. (I believe it's actually intentional, not a bug). (In reply to comment #2) > Not even close to being a release blocker. -1/-1. (I believe it's actually > intentional, not a bug). Ok sorry. PS. but it gets stuck on Downloading Repository Information...wastes time...whereas in F17 it was faster that was just my vote, btw. In F14 gpk-update-icon was useful for getting notified when updates were available. It was listed in the session startup applications. In F18 this application is no longer provided, but the man page is. This is a very useful program otherwise I have to check everyday whether updates are available. This program needs to be restored or at least the same functionality needs to be provided. It is; you see the 'Install updates and restart' entry on the user menu if updates are available, and you don't see it if they aren't. You also actually still get a pop-up notification when updates are available, but I'm not sure if that's actually _intended_. This bug is about there being no direct way to get to the Software Updates app any more, which I believe is intentional, with the Offline Updates feature. But honestly, I think the intersection between Offline Updates and gnome-packagekit is still somewhat confused, though I haven't entirely managed to convince upstream it's a big deal yet. I keep getting software update notifications pop-up, and clicking on Install updates opens up PackageKit. I never even noticed the User menu "Install updates and restart" item. I have yet to actually get Fedora 18 to do any kind of automatic updates at all because of this. I made a mistake with Severity: urgent . Can someone change it. The maintainer will change it if he cares; it's only really of interest to the maintainer anyways. Some just ignore it. |
