Description Jan-Albert van Ree 2013-01-11 11:31:29 UTC
Description of problem:

I would like our first-line support staff to start using Spacewalk for day-to-day administration. Many of those tasks are simply a matter of executing a script on a certain machine.

Right now scripts are documented in a wiki and it would involve cut'n'paste actions into the 'remote command' window or in a terminal window, which is somewhat error-prone.

Would it be possible to extend the remote command with a second tab where pre-defined scripts (just like the kickstart scripts section) can be selected to be executed on a (selection of) host(s) or hostgroup(s)

It would be nice if every script could have a Description field too in the overview, explaining in plain language what the script does.

Some scripts we use regularly are
- Printer creation scripts (we don't allow every user to access all printers)
- Install/upgrade special software, which can't be handled by the normal spacewalk / yum / rpm system
