Description Dethlef Madsen 2013-01-12 21:18:25 UTC
Hello *,

Description of problem:

I just installed Fedora-18 from boot.iso (version 2013.01.11) into a Virtual Box scenario under Fedora-18.

It was a standard installation with all defaults and I just checked cinnamon as my desktop.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora-18 boot.iso downloaded from a near mirror date: build 2013.01.11

Actual results:

After installation (with german keyboard, 1006 packages) and reboot, I got a graphical login screen but can't login. Nothing happens, no error messages, nothing. A "# yum grouplist" shows me that the GNOME Desktop is not installed.

Expected results:

If cinnamon is checked GNOME3 should be pulled in at least during the installation.

Thank you

Dethlef

Changed Component to anaconda.

Where did you select cinnamon in the installer?

The very first time it's possible after booting boot.iso if you select your desktop you want to install. (graphical installation)

My thoughts are that new users a completely lost if they finish the
installation, reboot and can't login because cinnamon depends on GNOME3.

I just tested RC4 and it works as expected.

I just made 3 installations but on larger virtual HD's (12 GB). Two de_DE netinstall + boot.iso and one en_US with netinstall. Again 1006 pkgs and now I can login after installation and reboot. All 3 VMs.

Maybe my bug-report-installation was corrupt and hangs during 1. login - out of space or something. It was installed on 8 GB (default size) with auto-partition but no warning from anaconda about limited diskspace.

I just reinstalled it on 8 GB and it's works now.

Sry for wasting your time :(
