From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0) Description of problem: The version of /etc/X11/prefdm no longer references the DESKTOP variable (it did on 7.3 - the only other version I can check against). File /etc/sysconfig/desktop should now set the DISPLAYMANAGER variable so the sysadmin can set their preference without modifying the start up scripts. /etc/sysconfig/desktop is not part of an RPM therefore I couldn't identify the component. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): initscripts-7.14-1 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Modify /etc/sysconfig/desktop 2.Restart X 3.No change Actual Results: Nothing, the variable is not in use anymore Expected Results: Should be able to change the Display Manager/Desktop Additional info:
