What desktop are you using? Kde This sounds weird... most likely a hardware bug. You say that the DVD comes up with file manager (dolphin) but not in Xine or VLC (neither of them are KDE apps)? Let me rephrase it. Add DVD and I get Gwenview, Digikam or File manager Run VLC and I get a tree with DVD and it shows the DVD name press play and I get Playback failure: DVDRead could not open the disc "/dev/dvd". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///dev/dvd'. Check the log for details. Xine gives me "non plugin to support /dev/dvd. This was working under F17 and not under f18 Perhaps there is no /dev/dvd device that Xine or VLC expect there to be... This message is a reminder that Fedora 18 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 18.
