Description phantom007 2000-02-01 04:27:57 UTC
Hello,
I have installeed RH6.1 several times and in the process I noticed there
was something odd about the root password. After installation, the password
entered during installation is not always the same as the one supplied. I
use a long password during installation for root of
 !mypasswor54676!

This isn't the same password I used, but it has the same exclaimation
marks, number of letters and number of numbers, 16 characters in all. After
installation I was able to use only the first 8 characters to login being
   !mypassw

Once installed, I did change my password to !mypasswor54676!
After doing this, I was then able to login using only the correct password
with all 16 characters.

I did the menu installations and the text installation with the same
results.

If you need a further explaination please let me know.

Thank you

dc3
