Seems to be something in my environment, since it seems to work in sandbox -X or as root.

I stupidly deleted my ~/.config/libreoffice directory and now everything works.  I guess I should have saved it,  You can close this bug as insufficient data if you want, since libreoffice seems to be working for me now.

Can we get the n-v-r of your libreoffice anyway and had you upgraded from f-18 to rawhide ? i.e. we're potentially looking at a libreoffice 3 to libreoffice 4 user config migration problem.

Yes this machine has been continuously updated.

rpm -q libreoffice-writer
libreoffice-writer-4.0.0.3-1.fc19.x86_64

Can't tell much without the original ~/.config/libreoffice data.
