when running Xconfigurator, (in this example on test95.test.redhat.com)
large parts of the normal blue default background is replaced with black
(although the root window text is displayed on blue) starting at the
Monitor Setup screen ... this bug doesn't affect Xconfigurator
functionality, though...

This was a bug in slang-1.4 -- we've reverted slang for beta 3.
