Doc Text:
On the User Portal, the RDP console does not open on Windows 7 or 8 virtual machines when the 'Use Local Disks' option is enabled. This is because the ActiveX plugin is served from a foreign site, which must be added to the list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer version 9 and higher.

Description Jiri Belka 2013-02-08 16:08:14 UTC
Description of problem:
RDP console does not open on Windows 7 SP1 32bit/8 64bit when 'Use Local Disks' option is used.

Without this option RDP console opens fine in User Portal.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
sf6

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. use Windows 7 sp1 32bit or Windows 8 64bit as client
2. login to User Portal
3. open RDP console of a Windows VM
4. open RDP console with 'Use Local Disks' selected of a Windows VM

Actual results:
RDP console does not open when 'Use Local Disks' is used on Windows 7 sp1 32bit/Windows 8 64bit

Expected results:
working as designed

Additional info:
I could not test on Windows 8 32bit (crashes during install), also I don't have Windows 7 64bit on my setup now.

let's see if we can get rid of activex rdp by 918890

Comment 2 Frantisek Kobzik 2013-04-22 16:17:40 UTC
Hello!

This feature has two root causes.

1. Redirect drives is always set to false on the RDP (activex) connector in the engine.
2. The rdp option for redirecting disks is version-specific. In rdp >= 6.0 the "drivestoredirect" option is used, in lower versions, there is "redirectdrives".

Anyway - my question is - should the drive redirection be always on/always off/configurable?

Comment 3 Frantisek Kobzik 2013-04-22 16:24:56 UTC
Wrong question. Of course it should be configurable (via console dialog). But I'm not sure - what should be default?

Comment 4 Michal Skrivanek 2013-04-26 12:21:39 UTC
default is not checked

I'd go with 6.0+ option as it's already 6 years old and available on XP SP2

this should become a doc BZ. reopening.

Comment 8 Cheryn Tan 2013-09-17 07:21:13 UTC
Jiri, Frantisek -- the requires_doc_text? flag alerts the docs team to include this in the release notes, and yes, it will be included in the 3.3 beta notes.

What Michal did, which is to assign this to a Guides component (you can also clone the bug and set it against the Guides component, if the original dev bug needs to stay open) ensures that it will be evaluated by the docs team for inclusion into docs.

Thank you,
Cheryn

Comment 9 Jodi Biddle 2013-10-16 10:41:34 UTC
This will be included in the release notes even if I set the bug to closed. I'm closing it to move it off my queue.
