Description of problem:
I rebooted the machine and the notification came up.  Coincidentally, I had done "yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing mate-utils-1.5.0-1.fc17" as a followup to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=912693 immediately before.
