Thanks for a bug report. It is the same issue as in bug #888172, stuck contact photo lookup blocking the rest from work, while the addressbook factory seems to be idle. I'm closing this as a duplicate of it.

By the way, do you have photo lookups disabled in the Preferences (if they are, then one bug can be that the code doesn't care of the option).
