s-c-k Package Selection menu none

Description Frantisek Hanzlik 2013-02-23 21:16:00 UTC
Description of problem:
Creating custom install kickstart file (as F18 anaconda installer package selection is quite useless, this tool importance is IMO high), it seems there is no possibility for an additional languages selection.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
system-config-kickstart-2.9.0-1.fc18.noarch

Expected results:
There should be support for additional languages selection (perhaps I'm no one who at roughly half Fedora desktop installations want support for more than one language).

Comment 1 Chris Lumens 2013-02-26 11:37:06 UTC
Additional languages are selected via the package selection interface. Just go into the package interface, select the Language group, and click the ones you want. That will install the additional grups necessary. If you need some other multiple language support, you will have to wait until I merge s-c-ks with the anaconda UI.

s-c-k Package Selection menu

Comment 3 Frantisek Hanzlik 2013-02-26 13:35:36 UTC
I'm not sure what You mean with 'package selection interface'. Where it is? On my s-c-k dialog window isn't any 'Language group' menu, nor I found it in some submenu. Can You be little more detailed, please?
In attachment is screenshot how looks Package Selection menu on my desktop, s-c-k run with 'LANG=en_US.UTF-8' (but with my native 'LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8' there are same items).
Thanks.

Comment 4 Chris Lumens 2013-02-26 14:08:15 UTC
If you are using F18, then the F18 comps must not have that grouping available any more. There used to be a choice on the left hand side for "Language Support", under which you could then pick each language you wanted. I am unfortunately not going to have time to write UI for that in s-c-ks. Any time I have to spend on s-c-ks needs to be spent working on getting it using anaconda, so it can support important things like LVM. Sorry.

Comment 5 Frantisek Hanzlik 2013-02-26 15:00:26 UTC
It is about differential Fedora user needs. IMO majority of them will prefer good package selection system than LVM (although it is important too. I guess...).
I understand there is difficult to push average Fedora user to install new Fedora release every half of year and use LVM together ;)
