Description Ann Marie Rubin 2013-02-26 14:50:08 UTC
This bug is created as a clone of upstream ticket:
https://fedorahosted.org/freeipa/ticket/3450

[http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2136 RFC 2136] section 1.1.5:

{{{
      CNAME compare only NAME, CLASS, and TYPE -- it is not possible
             to have more than one CNAME RR, even if their data fields
             differ.
}}}

Verified against ipa-server-3.3.3-6.el7.x86_64

[root@ipaqavmb ~]# ipa dnsrecord-add $DOMAIN cname --cname-rec $cname
  Record name: cname
  CNAME record: m.l.k.
[root@ipaqavmb ~]# ipa dnsrecord-add $DOMAIN cname --cname-rec "a.b.c"
ipa: ERROR: invalid 'cnamerecord': only one CNAME record is allowed per name (RFC 2136, section 1.1.5)
