Description of problem:
After upgrading to 3.8.1-201.fc18.x86_64, hibernating does not cause the system power to go off. The fan continues to run and the power indicator remains on. If I keep the power button pressed to "force shut down", the system powers off. On booting subsequently, the system resumes from the hibernated state. This implies that hibernate does finish it's saving tasks, but the fan is not switched off. 

I have a similar issue with suspend where everything other than the fan goes off, ie, it does not enter the final "suspended" state. However, since force shutting down causes loss of the suspended state, the system does not resume from the suspended state and instead boots afresh.

I've just confirmed that hibernate works properly in the previous kernel version: kernel-3.7.9-205.fc18.x86_64. The kernel update to kernel-3.7.9-205.fc18.x86_64 has broken something.

- Added suspend bug in see also.

Please note that others with issues that don't seem to be the same have commented on the bug. I've asked them to open separate bugs. The suspend issue is that the system appears to suspend, but the fan keeps running, keeping it from entering "suspended state". The bug has the suspend log attached too.

Should I be giving kernels in testing negative karma for this?

Same for me at  3.8.4-202.fc18.x86_64. The interesting thing is, that if I boot and just after boot try to hibernate, then everything is OK, but after some runtime, hibernate is never finished - computer is not powered off. Up to some 3.8.x version it looked like that after power button press, the system is shut off and after power up it resumes, but during last few days, it is not the case anymore, the computer is not resuming anymore, but I may be impation to shut it off.. it looks to me like this could be a bug in systemd not a kernel.

I can suspend/resume hibernate/resume just fine. Adam, if it's working for you too, please close the bug.
