Description Bruno Wolff III 2013-03-09 21:33:40 UTC
Description of problem:
I get the fail whale page for gdm when booting up and can't use it to do graphical logins. (I am using kdm as a work around.)

I have a Radeon 9200 which is blacklisted and used to get fallback mode.

I am a bit concerned that gdm doesn't work with older video cards even if they aren't supported for gnome3, since gdm is the default graphical login program.

It's possible the real problem is that software rendering is broken, but even so it would be nice to keep gdm fallback mode limping along until software rending can be used by it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdm-3.7.91-1.fc19.i686

This is effectively a dupe of 909473, and the real bug here is 'blacklisted cards should use llvmpipe to run GDM / Shell, but they don't'. ajax tells me it's somewhat icky to fix.
