Description of problem:
BLNSVR service stops with event 7016 : the balloonservice has reported an invalid current state 0
after some search i find this article from Microsoft

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start the service with : blnsvr -r
2. verify the status of the service : blnsvr status

STATUS : service RUNNING

3. sc interrogate balloonservice

SERVICE_NAME: balloonservice
        TYPE               : 10  WIN32_OWN_PROCESS
        STATE              : 4  RUNNING
                                (STOPPABLE, PAUSABLE, ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)
        WIN32_EXIT_CODE    : 0  (0x0)
        SERVICE_EXIT_CODE  : 0  (0x0)
        CHECKPOINT         : 0x0
        WAIT_HINT          : 0x0

4. verify the status of the service : blnsvr status
STATUS: Service STOPPED. 

5. verify event log
event ID : 7016
The BalloonService service has reported an invalid current state 0.
  
Actual results:
the balloonservice stopped

Expected results:
the balloonservice still running

im also experiencing the same problem,

im having this problem on Server2008R2 and Server2012

Reproduce this issue on winxp ,blnsrv.exe from virtio-win-prewhql-58
Since memory stastic may support in RHEL7 ,grant qa_ack

Reproduced this issue on virtio-win-prewhql-65
Verified this issue on virtio-win-prewhql-70

Steps are same as comment #0

Actual Results:
on virtio-win-prwehql-65 ,blnsrv service is stopped
on virtio-win-prewhql-70 ,blnserv service still running 

Based on above ,this issue has been fixed ald .Move status to VERIFIED.

hi,
is it possible to download the virtio-win-prewhql-70.iso or a newer build of the drivers from anywhere ?
i dont want to have to build the drivers myself from the github repo
