Updated patch for stub generation with inner classes none

Description Andy Grimm 2013-04-08 00:26:12 UTC
Description of problem:
I've filed a bug upstream about this, and I'm filing here so that hopefully the patch can be applied outside of a point release update.

Currently eucalyptus 3.3 fails to compile with groovy > 1.7.3 due to a bug in groovy's java stub generator. In prior versions of eucalyptus, I had been using a patch to avoid joint compilation, but this is no longer possible.

The problem is simply that the stub generator outputs dollar notation (e.g.,com.eucalyptus.component.ComponentId$ComponentMessage) rather than the strict dotted notation (e.g., com.eucalyptus.component.ComponentId.ComponentMessage), which causes a compile error.

The patch is in a single line, adding a ".replace('$', '.')" call.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.8.8

The upstream bug is here:

Comment 9 Matt Spaulding 2013-06-09 21:23:41 UTC
I'm reopening this since it looks like the patch did not completely fix the issue. Compilations can still fail if annotation parameters use inner classes, not just the annotation itself.

Comment 12 Fedora End Of Life 2015-01-09 22:05:23 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will
be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

According to the upstream ticket, this was fixed in 2.1.6. I tried to compile the reporoducer attached there and it built fine, so I'll declare this fixed. Feel free to repoen if you disagree.
