What is the "screenruler.rb" thing? Could you please provide us list of the gems on your system? The RPM ones as well as the installed using gem command.

the 'gem list --local' output seems to reflect .rpm installation. afaict, 'gem install ...' was never invoked.

So I am going to reassign this issue to screenruler package, since I doubt it is Ruby issue. May be mtasaka can tell us more, since he maintains the Ruby's Gnome bindings, where the failure seems to be.
