Yes - this feature worked in F18 - but now with an upgrade to f19 - it no longer works. Interestingly it doesn't remember gnome-terminals - but it appears to remember firefox & oowriter - and restart them after logging in. However if I had these apps in different workspaces - its not remembering that attribute [and restarting both in the first workspace] This is very annoying - and hopefully it gets fixed. currently using gnome-session-3.8.1-1.fc19.x86_64 I'm surprised this issue isn't marked a blocker yet. Perhaps others are not seeing this issue? Perhaps it happens only for upgrades - and not fresh installs? It does happen for fresh installs for 19 Beta RC2. I don't see anything in the release criteria that would make it a blocker, even for Final: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_19_Alpha_Release_Criteria https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_19_Beta_Release_Criteria https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_19_Final_Release_Criteria I'm guessing it wouldn't be a FE either, since it can be fixed with an update, and you can bring up the applications manually. It would be nice though to know that someone is aware of it. I tried asking on #gnome once and got no response. Tested against gnome-session-3.8.2.1-2.fc19.x86_64 and that fails too. Is there a workaround? Fails with gnome-session-3.8.2.1-2.fc20.x86_64 in Rawhide. Still broken in the latest GnomeOSTree image - see https://kparal.wordpress.com/2013/07/17/experiment-with-bleeding-edge-gnome-using-gnomeostree/ . Has this problem been reported upstream? If not, why not? If it has, what is the gnome bugzilla number? (In reply to Gene Czarcinski from comment #7) > Has this problem been reported upstream? If not, why not? If it has, what > is the gnome bugzilla number? I don't know. I asked twice on #gnome whether this was a known problem and got no response either time. OK,I ran some tests. It appears that the problem is NOT with gnome-session but, instead, with gnome-terminal. I rebuild the gnome-terminal-3.6.1-2.fc18 on F19 an then ran the result as "my-terminal". The session was saved and restored over a logoff/logon. I am changing the release to 19 (I have not tested this on rawhide) and the package to gnome-terminal. It has been just sitting here so might as well put this report to some use. I ran a more complete test by rebuilding the F18 3.6.1 package from F19 and the "install" downgrading it onto a Fedora 19 system. The gnome-terminal now restarts over a logoff/logon the way it is suppose to. I would have like to have done this a little more incramentally by using the snapshots from the gnome git for gnome-terminal but I could not get these to build and the info needed to do whatever magic dance is hidden somewhere I did not find. Come on folks, someone who understands this code should be able to point to the problem. Sorry, same fate as bug#981832 as these are duplicates. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 981832 *** |
