Description Tom McKay 2013-04-24 14:27:10 UTC
All references to installing katello bootstrap cert rpm on client system need name changed.

From candlepin-cert-consumer-$fqdn-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
To candlepin-cert-consumer.noarch.rpm

@Sarah - I am assigning this to myself for the moment. There is discussion as to whether or not this is a good change or not. I will re-assign to you when confirmed. Thanks!

huge +1 from me here. the hostname has no business being in the RPM name

For documentation:

Current candlepin cert rpm will remain unchanged. This means existing docs and customer usage is backward compatible.

An additional rpm, however, is now available that does not contain the server's hostname. This new rpm may be used in place of the previous. The new name is:

candlepin-cert-consumer-latest.noarch.rpm

Comment 5 Athene Chan 2013-05-28 03:57:24 UTC
Hi Tom,

It seems from your message that the latest rpm candlepin-cert-consumer-latest.noarch.rpm is just another option from candlepin-cert-consumer-[hostname]-1.0-1.noarch.rpm.

Can you confirm if there are any issues with using one or the other?

Thanks,
Athene

I would suggest mentioning both in the documentation. An indication that "latest" will be consistent between product upgrades so it is suitable for scripts and other automated uses.
