Description Michael A. Alcorn 2013-05-28 14:43:39 UTC
Description of problem: Resume from suspend hangs at a blank screen when the computer has been asleep for a prolonged period of time (> one hour).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 3.9.4-200.fc18.x86_64 and 3.9.2-200.fc18.x86_64

How reproducible: The problem only occurs when the computer has been asleep for a prolonged period of time, which makes it inconvenient to reproduce. When resuming from a sleep of ~30 seconds, there are no issues.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Suspend the computer.
2. Wait longer than an hour.
3. Attempt to resume the computer.

Actual results: The hard drive starts running, but the screen remains black and requires a hard reboot to fix.

Expected results: The computer resumes from suspend.

Additional info: I do not have this issue on the 3.8.11-200.fc18x86_64 kernel.

Comment 1 Michael A. Alcorn 2013-06-24 02:54:46 UTC
I think using the s3-bios quirk, that is to say, using the command "pm-suspend --quirks-s3-bios" fixes the bug.

I was wrong. Using the s3-bios quirk seems to help for suspends of over one hour, but does not work for suspends of approximately eight hours.

The issue appears to be related to systemd. Closing this bug to file a new one.
