Description Murray Ketchion 2013-06-03 01:37:41 UTC
Description of problem:

Presently, when you choose to automatically mount partitions in rescue mode, if the partition is unreadable, it says along the lines of:

Partition unreadable
Would you like to ERASE ALL DATA?

The default option is 'yes'.

This is very dangerous. During a Bomgar session, with a customer who had 50 unreadable LUNs, we spent about 30 minutes choosing no, and pressing enter.

By providing a 'skip mounting all unreadable partitions' option, or similar, will save GSS time and reduce the chances of customers unwantingly formatted their partitions.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
all

How reproducible:
Enter rescue mode on system with unreadable partitions

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot up system with many unreadable partitions (usually LUNs) in rescue mode
2. Select to mount partitions automatically

Actual results:
1. Prompt if you want to format unreadable partition /dev/sdg2
3. Prompted again and again until all cycled through all partitions on system (get coffee)
4. Finally get a shell prompt

Expected results:
1. Be prompted if you want to format unreadable partitions
2. Select 'skip all unreadable partitions'
3. Get a shell prompt

Additional info:
If we could set default to 'no' when it asks to ERASE ALL DATA that would be a bonus.
