No more problems since downgrading to kernel-2.4.20-13.8 I too have been having random hangs since upgrading to 2.4.20-18.8 (and 2.4.20- 19.8) on my Athlon box (RHN system details here: https://rhn.redhat.com/network/systems/details/index.pxt?sid=1000667094); meanwhile, I've had no problems on my dual-PIII. I've also reverted to the last stable version (2.4.20-13.8). I see the same problem: several dual athlon machines freeze with kernels newer than 2.4.20-18. Freezes usually happen overnight. memtest86 finds no memory errors. No freezes seen with 2.4.20-18. No freezes on dual P-III machines. No freezes on rackmounted dual athlon machines (no desktop users, no X11, very few daemons). K.O. Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/ |
