Description Marcus Moeller 2013-06-25 07:20:27 UTC
gnome-initial-setup is always shown, even if

InitialSetupEnable=false

is set in /etc/gdm/custom.conf

gnome-initial-setup-0.12-1.fc19.x86_64

This worked fine till gnome-initial-setup-0.11-1.fc19.x86_64, so it must have been introduced lately.

Can you please describe better what you're seeing?

This particular GDM configuration is only meant to disable the user creation step when you first boot the system with no regular user accounts. The user session g-i-s is still supposed to run on the first login of every user account.

Comment 2 Marcus Moeller 2013-06-25 12:22:42 UTC
It starts with a language dialog. We have a central setup with users from active directory and mounted home directories. We need to prevent this dialog. This was possible with the parameter InitialSetupEnable=false in /etc/gdm/custom.conf at least in gnome-initial-setup-0.9-2.fc19.x86_64 (my first assumption that this was also the case in 0.11-1 was wrong, sorry).

Comment 3 Rui Matos 2013-06-25 12:33:46 UTC
You still haven't been clear about which "kind" of g-i-s you're seeing but I'm going to guess it's the regular user session one.

What you can do is create the file ~/.config/gnome-initial-setup-done for all those user accounts. Does that fix it for you?

Comment 4 Marcus Moeller 2013-06-25 12:36:19 UTC
As mentioned, it starts with a language selection dialog. It's the regular user session one.

We are not able to pre-deploy configurations using skel mechanism to user homes, so we are in need to disable it system-wide.

Comment 5 Rui Matos 2013-06-25 12:46:35 UTC
You can just remove the package then...

Comment 6 Marcus Moeller 2013-06-25 13:09:45 UTC
Ah, great. This lead to a non-working gnome setup in the past. Thanks for your help.
