Description Jóhann B. Guðmundsson 2013-07-16 09:15:43 UTC
Description of problem:

Based on response to defaulting to journal only thread on devel I think it's clear that users/administrators have no idea that they can and could/should use the arrow keys when reading output from the journal so it would be best if we can somehow hint/indicate to them that they can do so.

I guess something like the bottom line in nano editor with arrow indicator which would suffice.

Or perhaps it would be best to introduce something like "journaltutor" based on the spirit of "vimtutor" which would show them the ropes so to speak.

There's now a mention of the arrow keys in the journalctl(1).

Comment 2 Lennart Poettering 2013-07-26 01:04:18 UTC
less doesn't allow changing its prompt. Also scrolling to with the arrow keys should be known to most users, and it's now documented in the man page.

Since we can't really do anything about it, closing now.
