Description Trever Adams 2013-07-17 18:52:47 UTC
Description of problem:
* I would like to see a conf.d/*.cfg.lua setup like Ubuntu/Debian do so that virtual hosts can be added easily.
* I would like to see logging of errors and info on by default logging to /var/log/prosody/prosody.log and .../prosody.err
* A log rotation script

I have included a patch to do the configuration file changes. I have not done the necessary patch for the spec file to create the conf.d directory and do the appropriate chmod/chown, etc.

I like the rest, but this one seems like over-complication of the stuff. RHEL/Fedora was always based on the assumption that sysadmin should be able to manage his $EDITOR.

Comment 5 Robert Scheck 2013-08-22 17:19:57 UTC
I would like the second and third point of initial description, I have less
opinion on the first point (given that Prosody is IMHO not same virtual host
friendly as e.g. httpd - especially when remembering to my employers prosody
configuration; think of mod_proxy65 as stupid example).

Comment 6 Trever Adams 2013-08-22 18:05:06 UTC
Not all of the modules can be modified per host, granted. However, having the conf.d directory does make it much easier to manage with things like puppet. I can go either way, as in reality most of my setups will be completely managed with puppet and I have it setting up that.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2015-01-09 18:58:32 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will
be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.
