Description Lubos Kocman 2013-07-18 15:32:38 UTC
Description of problem:

openssh should not celebrate success on failing to connect to unknown host

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

openssh-clients-6.2p2-3.fc19.x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.ssh doesnotexist

Actual results:

ssh: Could not resolve hostname doesnotexist: Success

Expected results:

I don't see any success/win on being unable to connect to non-existing host

So I guess following message would be better
"ssh: Could not resolve hostname doesnotexist"

Comment 1 Petr Lautrbach 2013-07-19 07:32:48 UTC
The patch for this is already accepted by upstream and will be included in the next release. However, I'll use it with the next fedora update which will happen soon. Thanks, for the report.

Comment 3 Petr Lautrbach 2013-07-19 07:49:43 UTC
Workaround is to fix your resolver. You've probably got /etc/nsswitch.conf set with non-existent module.
