OK, but now the user gets an error message that is easy to overlook and a package string. AIUI, the package can never be from updates-testing because of the error, but the user may not realize that. ISTM, that this should be a fatal error with no package string displayed. Also, the error message would be more useful if it suggested trying a different repoid: "You could try using a different repoid." $ sudo repoquery man-pages-de --repofrompath=updates-testing,http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/testing/19/x86_64/ Repository updates-testing is listed more than once in the configuration man-pages-de-0:0.5-8.fc19.noarch $ echo $? 0 $ sudo repoquery man-pages-de --repofrompath=updates-testing,http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/testing/19/x86_64/ --location --show-dupes Repository updates-testing is listed more than once in the configuration http://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/pub/fedora/linux/releases/19/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/m/man-pages-de-0.5-8.fc19.noarch.rpm $ echo $? 0 There is indeed a package in updates-testing: $ sudo repoquery man-pages-de --repoid=updates-testing man-pages-de-0:0.5-10.fc19.noarch Tested with: $ rpm -q yum-utils yum-utils-1.1.31-16.fc19.noarch This is a sentence, so it should end with a period: "Repository updates-testing is listed more than once in the configuration" ^ (In reply to Steve Tyler from comment #7) > ISTM, that this should be a fatal error with no package string displayed. Maybe.. the package string is of course not part of the error message, and comes from some other enabled repository. Now that I think of it more, it should be a fatal error. > Also, the error message would be more useful if it suggested trying a > different repoid: "You could try using a different repoid." Isn't that obvious? > This is a sentence, so it should end with a period: > "Repository updates-testing is listed more than once in the configuration" Thanks, fixed. Definitely not obvious ... :-) I thought updates-testing would be reused, since it is disabled. It was only after I *guessed* that I needed to use a different repoid, and *looked* at what was in /var/cache/yum/, that I *understood* what was going on: $ ls -1d /var/cache/yum/x86_64/19/updates-testing* /var/cache/yum/x86_64/19/updates-testing /var/cache/yum/x86_64/19/updates-testing-1 /var/cache/yum/x86_64/19/updates-testing-debuginfo /var/cache/yum/x86_64/19/updates-testing-source For the record, I regard this syntax as hopelessly arcane, but since I now believe --repofrompath should be viewed as an advanced feature of repoquery, I won't ask for any changes ... :-) --repofrompath=updates-testing,http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/testing/19/x86_64/ (In reply to Steve Tyler from comment #7) ... > Also, the error message would be more useful if it suggested trying a > different repoid: "You could try using a different repoid." ... Maybe this would be better done by adding a sentence to the --repofrompath documentation: "repoid must be different from any other repoid in the configuration, whether enabled or disabled." If the word "unique" could be included, somehow, that might be even better ... :-) This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
