RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Tomas Capek 2013-09-23 16:34:52 UTC
Description of problem:

By default, the keyboard preview dialog in the Keyboard spoke is too narrow to allow comfortably read various special characters, especially on notebook screens.

Expected results:

The dialog window is resizable - stretching it from the current ~70% width to ~90% seems to fix the problem sufficiently.

I suggest to increase the default size of the dialog to improve user experience.

Comment 3 Tomas Capek 2013-10-30 18:50:22 UTC
I checked in 19.31.30.1

For what it's worth, the fix seem to have made the window taller but not necessarily wider on a laptop screen because its dimensions can reportedly be only set to absolute values of fullscreen...

Comment 4 Tomas Capek 2014-03-12 14:07:20 UTC
Due to a bug in gtk that doesn't allow to properly resize the gkbd dialog, the dimensions of the dialog are now even less optimal than before the fix - width should be changed but isn't and height should have remained unchanged but is now bigger.

We better revert this thing if we can't fix it atm.

Thanks

Comment 5 Vratislav Podzimek 2014-03-12 14:12:30 UTC
Patch removing the problematic line available.

Comment 6 Jan Stodola 2014-04-08 13:27:03 UTC
The keyboard preview height is fixed in anaconda-19.31.75-1.el7.

Moving to VERIFIED.
