Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1016802
QXL does not change resolution with mingw-virt-viewer, only through Windows -> Properties
Last modified: 2013-10-09 08:59:47 EDT
Description of problem:
Once installed fomr the tools-ISO, the QXL driver only changes resolution though Windows -> Resolution and mingw-virt-viewer can't seem to change it.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL6.5-20130925.2 (host of Windows VMs)
mingw-virt-viewer msi - https://brewweb.devel.redhat.com/buildinfo?buildID=297777 (extracted from the rpm)
qxl - https://brewweb.devel.redhat.com/buildinfo?buildID=296049 (part of rhev-guest-tools-iso-3.3-6 already)
vdagent-win - https://brewweb.devel.redhat.com/buildinfo?buildID=280963 (part of rhev-guest-tools-iso-3.3-6)
Steps to Reproduce:
The guests were WinXP and Win7
Please help localize the issue.
Does it work downgrading qxl driver?
Is it only windows->windows?
Have you tried with a RHEL6 client?
Vimal saw this with a Fedora17 client.
I just used a Fedora 19 client and see the same.
resizing in win7 + spice-server-0.12.4-3.el6.x86_6 + qemu-kvm-rhev-0.12.1.2-2.406.el6.x86_64 + qxl 0.1-18/0.1.19 (same driver except for the whql sig) is working here with a f19 client.
The RHEV SPICE agent is set to automatic start in the guest, but yet the service is NOT started after the tools-ISO is installed and reboots the VM.

any chance you could grab the vdagent log? thanks
I wrote another bug explaining that the RHEV Spice Agent is not started in the guest even after the reboot of the VM after the tools-ISO install.
Once this is restarted, it seems like everything is happy.
so this bug should be closed.
