ha agent log files rotate frequency should be changed. Now agent log file rotates when its size reached 4 Mb (as i can see). It happens ~ every 25-30 minutes and it limited to 4 log files. log.1 log.2 log.4 log.4. After that it's written again so it's impossible to see agent logs few hours back.
Note that the linked patch to resolve this bug doesn't alter the log rotation settings, but instead lowers the rotation frequency by changing the default log level from DEBUG to INFO.

Provide version where fix already included please and also what size and what number of logs must appear in fixed version
Checked on ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-0.1.0-0.4.beta1.el6ev.noarch Still the same situation as described in description of bug
(In reply to Artyom from comment #5) > Checked on ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-0.1.0-0.4.beta1.el6ev.noarch > Still the same situation as described in description of bug Artyon, can you verify that the /etc/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/*-log.conf files have '[logger_root] > level=INFO' ? The logging config files are marked as "noreplace" in the rpm spec file, so if this was an upgrade instead of fresh install, you may have some .rpmnew files with the proper configuration.
Yes two conf files, agent-log and also broker-log, have level=INFO under [logger_root]
(In reply to Artyom from comment #7) > Yes two conf files, agent-log and also broker-log, have level=INFO under > [logger_root] Thanks. On its way is another patch set that will make the log activity more to the point.

Can you please say what desired behavior, in version ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-0.1.0-0.6.beta1.el6ev.noarch, I can see that size of logs still 4mb, but it more than 4 logs file(for example agent.log.5)
(In reply to Artyom from comment #10) > Can you please say what desired behavior, in version > ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-0.1.0-0.6.beta1.el6ev.noarch, I can see that size of > logs still 4mb, but it more than 4 logs file(for example agent.log.5) Main goal in this version was to reduce rotation frequency by reducing unnecessary logging by the agent and broker. Primarily, I moved some log messages to DEBUG level, and made others get logged less frequently--only when changed or every ~15 minutes. Combined with raising the number of log files to 8, we should now get much better log retention.
Verified on ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-0.1.0-0.6.beta1.el6ev.noarch. I see that each log takes about 9 hours of monitoring(if no errors), and I also that we have now 8 log files.
