Description Matt 2013-11-22 08:31:29 UTC
The installation documentation for RHQ 4.9 indicates that the rhq-encode-password.sh script should be run from the <rhq-install-dir>/bin/ directory to generate an encoded password. However, this script is not delivered within the rhq-server-4.9.0.zip file.

Comment 1 Matt 2013-11-22 08:42:14 UTC
The documentation was linked from the main http://www.jboss.org/rhq page, which I can now see refers to 4.10.0, which has not yet been released. This is confusing as people will think it is the installation instructions for the current version.

Comment 2 Deon Ballard 2013-12-12 21:07:32 UTC
It looks like one of the developers (Heiko Rupp) created a 4.9 doc space on the wiki, and that contains the proper script to encode the password:
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ49/Installing+the+Server

If you follow the link on the JBoss.org page now, there is a warning note on the main page that this is draft 4.10 documentation:
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/User+Documentation

It has a link to the 4.9 docs here:
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ49/Home
