Description Takayuki Konishi 2013-11-26 08:00:36 UTC
Title: Configure the Transaction Manager

Describe the issue:
"Enable TSM Status" and "Status Socket Binding" in Table 18.1. TM Configuration Options are not used in EAP 6.

Suggestions for improvement:
Remove these options or add note that explains they are not used.

Additional information:
The transaction status manager is for out of process recovery manager but the recovery manager always runs in process for EAP6 and so the facility will not be used even when enabled in that config.

Comment 1 Scott Mumford 2014-02-17 23:22:37 UTC
Those settings have been removed from the content. The change was made in the current 6.3 docs in development and backported to 6.2 and 6.1 suites.

The updated 6.1 content is available for review at:

http://docbuilder.usersys.redhat.com/19233/

Moving bug to MODIFIED until the change is available on the docs stage for QA review.

Hi Takayuki,

do you think that it would be possible to do it as it's mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1019090 ?

I, personally, do not like the fact that the configuration option is available and we keep it secret in documentation. I think that it would be better to rather put better description and information that it's not supported option.

Thanks
Ondra

Hi Ondrej,

Do you mean this sentence?

"add to the description that support running an out of process recovery and that by default is the TSM contacted in memory."

If so, "add to the description that support running an out of process recovery" is reasonable - it's not supported.

"that by default is the TSM contacted in memory.": I cannot answer details of TSM. I don't know whether TSM works or not in EAP.

Thanks for the feedback.

My main point is not to remove information about the configuration option from the documentation. But leave the info about existence of such option (anybody could find it in jboss-cli or in xsd) but mention at the table that such thing is not supported.

I'm assigning this bz back to the doc team with the request to put back the information about option existence, just reformulate it as it's mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1019090 and add there info that these options are not supported.

To the technical point of the issue: I've consulted the behavior of TSM in EAP with Tom and his response is put under this comment: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1019090#c3

Comment 8 Scott Mumford 2014-12-11 01:19:09 UTC
The "Enable TSM Status" and "Status Socket Binding" have been reinstated into the TM Configuration Options table.

The commands that accompanied each now state that the option is unsupported.

Comment 9 Scott Mumford 2014-12-11 01:36:10 UTC
The changes will be visible on the next rebuild of the docs suite.

Comment 11 Hayk Hovsepyan 2015-01-13 09:25:56 UTC
Verified on A&C Guide Revision 6.4.0-6 and on Dev Guide Revision 6.4.0-5.
