For some reason, some issues regarding missing methods in the SWIG/JNI wrapper have made their way into the release notes. These methods are only useful for QE testing and they are not part of the product and should not be documented.
I'll investigate this tomorrow and try to isolate the ones we need to take out. Adding Gemma as a cc in case I can't finish this before leaving for the year, in which case Gemma can continue this when developing release note bugs.
Hi Martin, Since the bugs we want to exclude were testing bugs for the most part, is there any way we can easily identify them? Perhaps a specific component or flag?
Hi Misha, you're probably talking about these three: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023031 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023032 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023033 Easy identification - they all start with "Missing methods" and they're all for Cpp client component. I proposed them for release notes because I really thought the methods were missing from the Cpp client itself, as their descriptions suggest. This would need some further clarification from Alan and Tristan because I think some of the methods were really missing from the Cpp client and not only from SWIG/JNI code (getBulk(), getVersion(), getProtocolVersion() and getName())
Thanks, Martin. Sent email to Tristan and Alan to confirm or add to this list of bugs.
Confirmed for my part
Thanks Tristan. I've removed the release notes flag from these three bugs.
Gemma, I've removed the bugs. To close this bug just ensure that the first draft of the release notes closer to GA does not have these three bugs anymore.
These JIRAs and BZs were created at the time of the JDG beta, and reflect the state of the C++ client API. These APIs were missing from the Beta release of the C++ client, and I believe that this fact should have been included in the Beta release notes. For GA, the documentation for the C++ client should describe any API differences between the Java and C++ implementations.
Just to be sure: is this issue about excluding the bugs from release notes for JDG 6.2 Beta or from release notes for JDG 6.2.GA? Thanks
IIRC, the bugs to be removed were already untagged before I left. When Martin's team concludes their final check of the RN bugs, we'll set this to VERIFIED, but it should already be fixed.
The fix for this bug is now generally released and available here: https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_JBoss_Data_Grid/6.2/index.html
