Can libssh2 be updated to 1.4.x on el5? There's a PECL module that needs at least version 1.2 but EPEL 5 is on 0.18: http://pecl.php.net/package-changelog.php?package=ssh2&release=0.12 FWIW, the spec file seems to simply it will work on el5 with comments like this in it: "Revert 'Modernize the spec file' so as to retain EL-5 spec compatibility".
Apologies for the late reply. Considering RHEL5 is in production 2 state (https://access.redhat.com/site/support/policy/updates/errata/) going into 3 in just over a month I'm a bit reluctant to introduce any changes that might affect running systems. Also, I notice that php-pecl-ssh2 isn't available for RHEL5 at all. Or is this bugzilla coupled with a request to make php-pecl-ssh2 available for EPEL5? Would moving onto RHEL6 where libssh2 is newer and php-pecl-ssh2 is available be an option for you?
David, Sorry for the long delay in replying. I was trying to build the latest ssh2 from pecl using the pecl command and it was failing due to it needing a newer libssh2, so I was stuck with an older version. Upgrading to RHEL6 does fix the probelm, but that is easier said than done ;) If upgrading it is not possible or a big burden, then no worries.
