Additional software configuration needs to be done to the IGEL Debian-based Linux thin OS to ensure all pre-requisites for native SPICE smartcard PKI passthrough are satisfied. This bugzilla is opened in order to collaborate with IGEL engineers to ensure that this works. --- What is the nature and description of the request? The IGEL UD3 thin client is on the RHEV 3.2 thin client compatibility list but from our understanding some additional software configuration needs to be done to the IGEL Debian-based Linux thin OS to ensure all pre-requisites for native SPICE smartcard PKI passthrough are satisfied. We would like joint assistance from Red Hat and IGEL engineering with sorting through this integration challenge. --- Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here) The IGEL UD3 is listed as supported, but smartcard passthrough isn't working out-of-the-box. --- How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here) Should be determined in collaboration with IGEL engineers --- For each functional requirement listed in question 4, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented. TBD --- Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat bugzilla? No --- How quickly does this need resolved? (desired target release) Unknown
The Virt Bu has begun discussions with IGEL. USB redirection is supported by IGEL. This may be a configuration issue. Investigations continue.
Update: This may be caused by the use of an older version of spicec vs virt-viewer being used. Discussions between RH and IGEL are ensuing. --Colin Devine
IGEL will be including the newer version of virt-viewer in the next version of their software to be released at the end of this July. --Colin Devine
IGEL has released their newest version of IGEL Linux which contains a newer virt-viewer driver. From their release notes: [RedHat Enterprise Virtualization client] - Updated spice/virt-viewer client to version 0.5.6. This can be downloaded at: http://myigel.biz I believe this should satisfy this bug and I recommend that it be closed. --Colin Devine
