Description Frantisek Reznicek 2013-12-12 09:55:32 UTC
Description of problem:

Virt-manager UI sorts defined connections by name of the connection, which is not configurable to my knowledge.

I'd like to suggest enhancement[s]:
 * keep localhost connection always first (by default)
 * allow user to set user defined order of connections
   * by dragging (recommended)
   * by editable connection a user/nick name (less usable)
     - here user can prefix connection to set the user order

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
virt-manager-0.9.5-1.fc17.noarch

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have multiple connections in virt-manager
2. localhost connection may be harder to find

Actual results:
Virt-manager sorts connections alphabetically (not configurable)

Expected results:
Virt-manager should support more flexible sorting

Thanks for the suggestions. However in general I don't want to add support to virt-manager that facilitates having large amounts of connections, since that's not our intended use case and most people won't need those features.

However there's already a bug tracking connection row rename which is one of your options, and should allow users to set a sort order if that's what they really want, so duping to that.
