Description RHOS Integration 2013-12-12 13:44:43 UTC
Cloned from launchpad blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova/+spec/openstack-scvmm-integration.

Description:

The proposition is to integrate Openstack and SCVMM to manage Hyper-V Host. We intend to use SCVMM server as a Compute Node. This approach leverages the capabilities of SCVMM and help us to incorporate Host management, Cluster level operations, other features supported by SCVMM like enablement of NVGRE.

Advantages of using SCVMM with openstack:
1.	Cluster level management. Support of Virtual Machines with High Availability.
2.	Another management improvement is the ability to move a host into maintenance mode. When maintenance mode is activated on a host, all running VMs on that host are automatically migrated to other hosts in the cluster.
3.	An improvement to disk resources in SCVMM is the ability to add and remove disks from running virtual machines. This feature allows you to add additional disks to your production servers before you run out of space without incurring downtime.

There is no formal support for Hyper-V in RHELOSP at this time.
