Description of problem: KDM background should be same as in GDM. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kdm-4.10.5-7.el7.x86_64 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: Boot to KDM. Actual results: KDM use desktop background (blue seven). Expected results: KDM should use dark grey background like GDM. Additional info: From Branding Documentation: The login screen can use branded artwork in two places: the lock screen shield that covers the login screen and a distributor logo, shown at the top of the user list widget.
kdm uses the default rhel7 background /usr/share/backgrounds/day.jpg. It looks like gdm uses own background instead the default rhel7 background from redhat-logos. In my opionion it's not a bug in kdm but rather in gdm which should use the default rhel7 background.
The GDM login screen is working as designed. Showing the default user background in it, is not part of the design or a feature of the implementation. (it will show the default user background in the "shield" that comes down over the login screen, as mentioned in the quoted branding text in comment 0). Of course, KDM has a different design, one that allows for changable backgrounds. I don't think KDM and GDM necessarily need to match, since they're designed following different metaphors. I'm going to move this back to kde-workspace, but than may WONTFIX this.
Martin, it's not a bug kdm but in gdm, so i close it as notabug. Please fill a bug by gdm component. thanks
