It's not really a fedup bug, just an issue with the LO packages in F19 being newer than F20, which makes it difficult to depsolve the upgrade. I'm not really sure what to do with this bug as there's not much fedup can do about it. I guess I'll set ON_QA, because there's a newer LO build for F20 in updates-testing: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/libreoffice-4.1.4.2-1.fc20 once that goes stable, these problems should go away.
I'm seeing the same thing too, but getting a lot more warnings that don't make sense. Basically each line below is saying: "Package-A" requires "Package-A" (the exact same package). The command I ran (after performing all pre-flight checks, per upgrade instructions) is this: sudo fedup-cli --network 20 (Version: fedup-0.8.0-3.fc19.noarch) BTW: as reported in other Bugs, when I ignore the below and reboot to initiate the upgrade (selecting the GRUB "Update" entry), when the booting O/S reaches the "Reached target Update", it just reboots boots.... it doesn't do the update. It just deletes the GRUB "Update" entry. I did this on two other laptops (fc19 to f20) with IDENTICAL O/S' (meaning I keep everything identical nearly down to the byte), and it worked with no problem. The difference here (I think) is that I was using an older version of "fedup", perhaps even 0.7.x for the previous two laptops that succeeded. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :) WARNING: problems were encountered during transaction test: broken dependencies caribou-0.4.13-1.fc20.x86_64 requires caribou-0.4.13-1.fc20.x86_64 xarchiver-0.5.2-18.fc20.x86_64 Does 'yum check' report any issues?
Hi Adam... Actually there were issues reported by "yum check" (thank you for reminding me to check again. I thought it was clean, with the exception of Virtualbox). Fixing the 'yum check' problems (via 'yum reinstall', removing unnecessary packages, etc.) made the aforementioned errors disappear. The only one that remains is as follows: ======================================== user@linux$ sudo yum check Loaded plugins: langpacks, refresh-packagekit VirtualBox-guest-4.3.6-4.fc19.x86_64 has missing requires of VirtualBox-kmod = ('0', '4.3.6', None) ======================================= However, while fedup-cli reports much cleaner output (as shown next), after I reboot to initiate the upgrade (selecting the GRUB "Update" entry), when the booting O/S reaches the "Reached target Update", it just reboots.... it doesn't do the update. It just deletes the GRUB "Update" entry. Arguably that is different Bug (but just saying). :) user@linux$ sudo fedup-cli --network 20 setting up repos... getting boot images... .treeinfo.signed | 2.0 kB 00:00:00 setting up update... finding updates 100% [========================================================================] verify local files 100% [=====================================================================] testing upgrade transaction rpm transaction 100% [========================================================================] rpm install 100% [============================================================================] setting up system for upgrade Finished. yes, that's definitely a different bug. file it separately. that was the symptom of trying to upgrade with fedup 0.7, but I assume by this point you're using 0.8?
Yes I'm using: "fedup-0.8.0-3.fc19.noarch". I will look for the other BUG id (that says upgrading from 0.7 to 0.8 solves things) and paste my issue there. Thanks for the help here! :)
No, please don't, 0.8 definitely resolved the most common cause of that symptom (literally *all* f20 upgrades with 0.7 fail in that way, and that's definitely fixed). You must have another cause of the same symptom. Please file a new bug.
Gotcha. Yes I noticed that too when perusing the BUGS tonight and (for the same reason you just gave) decided to file a *new* bug (and did). =:). Thanks again Adam.
The LO dep issue was resolved long ago.
