Description Jonathan C. Masters 2000-04-05 14:23:16 UTC
Hi, I reported a bug in the version of mpg123 that you shipped with RH6.1
and yet you still shipped the same bug in 6.2 :-) Certain mp3 cause mpg123
to crash 30seconds in - bug NOT present in RH6.0. Perhaps you'll listen
this time...

Which bug report was this?

Do you have a sample file?

Comment 2 Jonathan C. Masters 2000-04-05 15:19:59 UTC
I described the details to notting@redhat.com and have a sample file available
if required.

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2000-04-05 15:23:59 UTC
Hmm, can't find the mail now; Could you post the sample file?

Comment 4 Bill Nottingham 2000-04-05 19:54:59 UTC
OK, what appears to be happening is that

a) the mp3 has no CRC data
b) there are a few corrupt bits in it somewhere

mpg123 treats the bad bits as good, and in using them
scribbles all over its own memory. Bad stuff ensues.

Fixed in mpg123-0.59r-5, which will be in the next rawhide release.
