Description of problem: I just changed the LUKS key for my Fedora system, using cryptsetup luksChangeKey <dev> and it was a very scary experience. I typed in the old password, and then the new password, and it made the change without getting me to verify the new password. Fortunately, I typed in the new password correctly, but if I'd made an error, I'd have been screwed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): cryptsetup-1.6.3-1.fc20.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. cryptsetup luksChangeKey <luks-dev> Actual results: New password only requested once. Expected results: New password requested twice, to check for typos.
Yes, IIRC was intended to verify it for new passphrase. I fixed it in upstream 1.6.4 now, update will be built shortly. Anyway, you can always use -y, --verify-passphrase to force passphrase verification. Thanks.
