Description of problem: Trying to convert a large body of text to a table in LibreOffice causes it to stop responding. Initally asked here on Ask Fedora: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/41976/libreoffice-stops-responding-when-converting-large-bodies-of-text-into-a-table/ Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): libreoffice-writer-4.1.4.2-5.fc20.x86_64 How reproducible: Every time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/1184/pg1184.txt, and copy paste the text into a new Libreoffice writer document. 2. Select all the text, and CHoose "Insert> Table..." from the menu Actual results: Libreoffice stops responding. Note also that creating a 1X1 table, and then trying to paste the text in the single cell also causes LibreOffice to stop responding. Additional info:
Eh, so pasting a 450000 words (1100 pages) novel into a table cell(!) is extremely slow... What a surprise .-) On my machine, pasting the first 2 chapters (~5500 words) into a cell already takes ~4 seconds, the first 3 chapters (~9500 words) over 12 seconds. And it takes over a minute to paste it as normal text... Why do you want to do it anyway?
I was merely filing an issue raised on ask fedora. However, pasting the novel normally into body text takes only a few seconds, but takes much, much, longer when in a table. That is why i interpreted it as an issue.
