Description of problem:

lsattr and chattr do not work ala

[al@mail al]$ lsattr weca.jpg
lsattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device While reading flags on weca.jpg

Additional info:

RedHat Linux 7.3, all up to date, not modified, in IBM xSeries 235
stock RHL kernel-2.4.20-20.7 (SMP), but seems, that bug exist in up2date RH9 too

What filesystem is this on? ext2/ext3 seem to work fine here.

... but this is NFS import...! :)
in local filesystems all works O.K.
