Now we're running kernel 3.13+, we can update firmware to 22.24.8.0 as recommended on the linux-wireless web site: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi Firmware link: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=iwlwifi-7260-ucode-22.24.8.0.tgz NOTE: This is filed against iwl6050-firmware as there isn't a iwl7260-firmware component to lodge against.
We get the firmware from the upstream linux-firmware repo. That currently still has 22.15.8.0. Emmanuel, do you know if 22.24.8.0 is going to be pushed to the linux-firmware repo soon?
As Steven wrote, this FW is already available in my linux-firmware clone, and I sent a pull request to Ben Hutchings. None of the rest is in my hands.
Ben finally pulled this. I'll get it packaged today.
Updated in git.

silly question, does an update to linux-firmware also generate newer iwl*-firmware packages?
Yes. The iwl*-firmware packages are subpackages of linux-firmware.
