Powersave policy manager should also allow the virtual hosts to be shutdown (and started back up again if required):

It looks like this will consist of updating the tabs in the New Host and Edit Host windows to include this new option. I suspect other options will have also changed, so it might be good to update them at the same time. If it looks like there are changes and working on them will take a long time, feel free to raise another bug so that this feature bug can be handled here and they can be handled separately.

Comment 3 Lucy Bopf 2014-04-07 06:52:37 UTC
New power management functions appear to be controlled (by default) by the specified Cluster Policy of that host's cluster. Part of that default is the automatic shutdown and startup of hosts based on load balancing and/or low utilization. A check box is now available in the Power Management tab of New/Edit Host to disable that control.

Updated the table on Cluster Policy Tab Properties in Admin Guide to include auto shutdown and restart of hosts (under LowUtilization).

Updated Power Management Settings table to include check box 'disable policy control of power management'.

Note added in Configuring Host Power Management Settings re power management being controlled by cluster policy, and associated check box to disable.
