Description of problem: On my Dell CPXj laptop with a Xircom Cardbus Ethernet/56K modem PCMCIA combo, the modem is unusable until "/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart" is called. Maybe the order of which the services are started is affecting this? (just guessing here) How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot up & log in 2. Use redhat-config-network or wvdial to start the connect procedure 3. [Activating the interface fails] 4. Restart cardmgr/pcmcia by calling "/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart" 5. Same as 2 6. Success. Actual results: Activating the interface does not work after normal boot Expected results: Activating the interface should work after normal boot without having to restart cardmgr/pcmcia
This is most probably a kernel issue.
