Description Bruce Reeler 2014-05-30 03:23:56 UTC
Description of problem:
Explanatory prompting-text on what is meant by Release Notes in Doc Text field is too long to be viewed.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.4 I think

How reproducible:
When creating a new bug, or changing the Doc Type to "Release Note".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select "Release Note" from the Doc Type field.
2. Prompting text appears in the Doc Text field, but is too long to read.
3. Attempting to scroll the text using scroll-box, or clicking in the text field, causes the text to disappear, as one is expected to type in text.

Actual results:
Text appears in the Doc Text field describing what is (and what is not) classified as a Release Note, but the text is too long to read.

Expected results:
All prompt text should be visible in one go.

Additional info:
I suggest removing the blank line between the paragraphs, that might make all the text visible?

Douglas: What are your thoughts on this?

Comment 2 Douglas Silas 2014-06-09 11:48:59 UTC
Hi Simon,

I'm perfectly fine with removing the blank line between paragraphs. That's certainly the easiest fix.

Thanks,

Silas

Comment 3 Matt Tyson 🤬 2014-07-10 00:05:39 UTC
Deleting the blank line still does not give enough room to display all the text.

Making the box larger isn't feasible as it would make all multi line text boxes larger.

While annoying, it is possible to expand the text box without clearing the text by clicking and dragging the resize area just below the up/down scroll arrows. (bottom right corner)

Bugzilla 5 will be introducing a new UI that will allow us to fix this problem.
This bug will be deferred until then. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Comment 6 Jeff Fearn 🐞 2019-01-30 06:11:28 UTC
in BZ5 this box resizes when it gets focus, but the text disappears.

Verified on QA server, PASS
No scroll bar now and we could view all text once we select 'release notes'
