RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
Cause: All groups have been unselected when switching environments on the software spoke. Consequence: If the user selected some groups, his selection would be lost even if the user switched back. Fix: Keep group selection when switching environments and select relevant groups after the switch. Result: Improved user experience as the user does not loose his group selection every time he switches environments.

Description Martin Kolman 2014-07-30 09:34:43 UTC
Description of problem:
Any changes made in the group tab in the Anaconda software selection spoke are wiped out if the user switches to another environment. If the user switches back, all groups are again unselected. Also any ticked groups common with the environment the user has switched to are unticked.

This seems to be a serious usability issue - there can be quite a lot of groups that can be selected and we are basically throwing out the users work.

Also once bug 1087831 is fixed the current behavior could result in wiping out group selection from kickstart.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. on the "Installation summary" hub enter the "Software selection" spoke
2. select a few groups in an environment
3. switch to another environment and back to the original one

Actual results:
Any group selection is wiped out when switching environments.

Expected results:
When switching environments the changes made by user should not be silently dropped. Also any common selected groups should remain selected ("ticked") when switching environments.

Additional info:
I actually have a patch fixing this ready to use that was too late for 7.0.

Switching back and forth between environments doesn't change selection of groups.
